I am the lead author of Problem Strings for Fluency and Beyond: Grade 3, and co-author of Problem Strings for Fluency and Beyond: Grade 4 and Minilessons for Multiplication and Division. I began my teaching career in 1993 and have since served in a variety of roles, including math staff developer, district math teacher, district mathematics coordinator, and director of student achievement.
For ten years, I served as Director of Mathematics in the STEM Department at the New York City Department of Education, where I was also a lead architect of the city's Algebra for All initiative.
Today, I lead in-depth professional development—both online and on-site—for educators through New Perspectives on Learning, with a focus on building deep mathematical understanding and instructional practice.
